Higher Tier pays Applicants to manage land in a way that protects, restores or enhances nature and the environment, with site specific, bespoke management, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change.
This can be done on Woodland, Farmland, land managed for nature or a combination. When applying for an agreement, you can also apply for capital items. Successful Higher Tier Agreements may have a far greater budget for capital items than other standard capital grant schemes.
In many cases, Higher Tier can work without the need for significant changes, providing payments over £1,000/ha for some items that can also be traditionally found under a Sustainable Farming Incentive scheme.
