SFI 2026: What You Need To Know

Just Farm SFI 2026

Defra has today shared new details about the Sustainable Farming Incentive 2026 (SFI26) offering, with a streamlined service, designed to be simpler and more targeted.

The scheme will include 71 actions (reduced from 102), which have been shaped by farmer feedback.

There will be two application windows:

Window 1: June (open for approx 2 months)
for small farms (50ha or less) and those without an existing Annual Payment Agreement

Window 2: September
for all eligible farms.

Key changes include: a £100,000 annual agreement cap, a one agreement cap per business, revised payment rates and shorter agreement lengths.

The Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) will open on 17th March, with a great budget for 2026. Furthermore, the standalone Capital Grant scheme is scheduled to open in July. All scheme windows will have 'live' budget spends published to provide applicants advance notice ahead of windows closing, should scheme budgets be reached.
